VAIO’s Upstream Design
In order to realize efficient and flexible manufacturing, VAIO is undertaking two initiatives: upstream design and a one-stop solution.
We achieve smooth prototyping and efficient mass production by involving all departments—design, manufacturing, production technology, procurement, quality assurance, and support—in the production process from the initial stages of product planning. When products are received at our headquarters in Azumino for repair, the cause of the failure is examined not only by the support team but also by the design and manufacturing teams located in the same building. This allows for immediate revisions to the production process and provides feedback for the design of the next product, ensuring our ongoing commitment to high-quality products.
Previously, since engineers and staff from related processes joined at each stage of the design, changes and additions often occurred that were not anticipated at the start.
Having all departments housed in our headquarters in Azumino enables seamless collaboration across all stages, from product planning to manufacturing and post-sale services. This one-stop solution helps VAIO create products of the highest grade and quality.
